When wet, regular down plumes collapse, reducing loft and insulatory efficiency. DriDown's water tolerance far exceeds that of regular down, staying dry 7-times longer in the presence of natural body moisture, humidity, rain, and snow, offering superior loft and thermal efficiency for a warmer, more comfortable nights sleep. While in the outdoors, in an 80-Percent relative humidity environment, an untreated 15oF down sleeping bag loses up to 30-Percent of it's loft over an 8 hour window. This is the essentially the difference between a 15oF and a 300F rated sleeping bag. DriDown sleeping bags retain 98-Percent of it's loft over the same time period. This loss in traditional down bags is most impactful when the overnight temps dip the lowest, in the early morning hours, when you need the highest thermal benefit out of your bag. DriDown maintains it's loft and thermal performance, and will continue to perform at this level over a sustained length of days in the field by staying dry seven times longer and drying 33-Percent faster than traditional down bags. Sierra Designs uses ASTM-certified lofting tests, environmental chambers to simulate humid conditions, and tests to determine drying times. Sierra Designs has also developed proprietary testing to evaluate DriDown performance in extreme conditions. Field testing confirms that it outperforms regular down in every situation. Other features on the Zissou include: *Ergonomic Hood(tm) is shaped to cradle the head comfortably without compressing the insulation. Mini baffle of insulation below the draw cord allows snugging of the cord without feeling the cord. *Keeps cold air out by utilizing a draft collar with draw cord and zipper draft tube.
